As I was reading my Twitter feeds this morning, one of the tweets was from SmartMusic, announcing the a new app. MakeMusic has taken its first step into the world of iOS, releasing SmartMusic Inbox, a free app. This is NOT a full version of SmartMusic, but it does allow educators to assess SmartMusic performances on their iOS or Android device. As the new version of SmartMusic is going to have Sight-Reading features, I can see myself using the app this year. However, I am hopeful that MakeMusic is developing a version of SmartMusic for the iPad, if not other program as well. It seems that both the “major” music software companies are taking slow steps towards iOS (and mobile) integration.
